Chelsea FC goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has down played the stories linking him with a summer move to Real Madrid. He made public statements indicating that he would like to stay with the Blues.
Courtois is signed until 2019, but the Stamford Bridge #1 acknowledged that no contract extension talks are currently taking place between the club and his camp.
One of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, the Belgian super star told Spanish station Cadena Sur (hat tip NBC Sports):
“I don’t see myself at Real Madrid.”
“I see myself at Chelsea, the club that six years ago saw me playing in Belgium and gave me the opportunity to sign for them. They also allowed me to be three years at Atletico [Madrid], which helped me to be the keeper that I am now.”
“We will see at the end of the season if they offer me something. For the time being, there has not been an offer. I’m happy in London and I’m delighted with the success we are having this season.”
Thibaut Courtois and Chelsea are currently on international break. They will return to action April 1st against Crystal Palace. The Blues currently hold a ten point lead over Tottenham Hotspur at the top of the Premier League table, with ten games to play.
