Costa is the Premier Leagueโs leading scorer, tied with Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez. Heโs one of the Blues most valuable players this season, but he was dropped over the weekend in the match against Leicester City due to a row heโs having with coaches and management.
The source of the discord is an out of this world financial offer Costa received from the Chinese Super League.
In the wake of these developments, Chelsea Manager Antonio Conte urged the rest of his players to look above and beyond just money. In regards to Costa himself, Conte will not back down, and he’ll maintain a hard line.
According to the Telegraph, Conte will not hold:
specially arranged peace talks and will make the striker prove himself all over again before restoring him to his Chelsea starting line-up. But even if Costa redoubles his efforts and wins back his place, Conte is likely to sanction his sale in the summer and allow the 28-year-old to cash in on Chinese interest.
Whether or not Diego Costa wants to stay, it appears that his days in Stamford Bridge could be numbered. At least it seems that way right now if they can’t resolve this.
