One of the twelve founders of the Football League, Burnley FC, has been in the limelight only as subordinates to the winning sides. Burnley FC is a team that has made its recognition in the league football world by great performances in the past. The performance has not been the most consistent just like the game online live roulette but Burnley FC has been champions of England twice and has won the FA Cup once. They were on their top-notch’s one of the uprising teams in the premier league 2017. But times have again changed to worse in the past two seasons.
What is inviting a sudden performance lapse
Burnley, which lasted in the bottom half for just a week in the 2017 season and then moved upwards, has been struggling to gain a respectable position in the past seasons.
The problem seems evident when the scorecards are tracked down. The goal-scoring rate has been similar in all the past seasons, independent of the final position in the league. The difference is visible when we look at the record of clean sheets and goal conceding. Burnley conceded twice the number of goals last season than the 2017-18 season. The clean sheet record has halved from the 17-18 season.
As evident as it can be, the defence strategy of Burnley FC has been a major concern to the Team Manager Sean Dyche.
Building the base
When an issue is detected, any team management wants to go through changes. Changes in the slot available, changes in the practice sessions and changes in player’s mindset. These changes are the hopes of bringing positives to the team performance.
Similarly, Dyche also wanted to sign in different players. Someone who will add depth and quality to the squad. Sadly, the unavailability of sponsorship has restricted the management from testing out players. The off-season practice could not include much variety and hence the team was still holding the same combinations with minute possibility of any change in the final result. This might sound disappointing to the Burnley FC fans but there is still light. Mike Rigg, former head of acquisition of Manchester City has been called in as technical director to build the bridge and help team management.
The decision turns out to be fruitful or not? And to what extent? are questions that the future holds the answers to.
What the future holds?
After a downfall in the successive year of reaching the apparent peak in the 2017-18 premier league season, changes have been brought to the side. Mike Rigg has been brought in to solidify the team’s financial condition. However, using the help to its best is the job of the management.
Majority of fans stand concretely behind the manager and the team, as they know the franchise has the capability to prove their worth just like they did in the year 2015-16 when they bounced back in just 12 months after getting out from the Top 15 in the year 2015. Dyche, where at one point was under the talks and murmuring among the fans of what value he adds to the team, is now again pumped up with his sleeves rolled up.
