Arsenal FC manager Arsene Wenger derided the rumors about him circulating in the Twitterverse, blogosphere, cyberspace and media world around him today as “fake news.” The Frenchman made the Donald Trump style condemnation in response to a story claiming that he was offered the chance to become the next manager at Paris Saint Germain.

The narrative originated with The Sun, a publication with such a controversial history of publishing fake news that’s it now completely banned from all Liverpool Football Club grounds and LFC events.

Wenger told beIN SPORTS that there was nothing to claim he was offered a chance to succeed Unai Emery at PSG this summer stating: “It is a false rumor. That is what you call fake news.

“I formally deny it. It is not true.”

The 67-year-old Wenger has seen a major Arsenal supporter backlash against his regime, and the idea of his continuing on Gunners boss beyond May, when his contract expires.

He has acknowledged that the supporter demonstrations and unrest will be factor into his decision to stay on at the Emirates or not beyond the conclusion of this season. He’s also said that he’s made up his decision about his future and that he’ll let us know about his decision when he feels the time is right.
