The Arsenal FC Twitterverse, blogosphere, cyberspace and media world is buzzing today and the topic is exactly what you think it would be- the future or Manager Arsene Wenger. The backlash against the long time boss is as strong as it’s ever been with a big march against him taking place at the Emirates on Tuesday.

The Gunners got routed by Bayern Munich, again, and found themselves eliminated from the UEFA Champions League in the round of 16 for the seventh straight season. This time it was in humiliating fashion, 10-2 on aggregate.

Wenger tried to deflect responsibility by blaming the referees, but that excuse largely fell on deaf ears. A week of tumult moved the club to release a statement on the Frenchman’s job status.

The statement from Arsenal chairman Sir Chips Keswick reads:

“We are fully aware of the attention currently focused on the club and understand the debate. We respect that fans are entitled to their different individual opinions but we will always run this great football club with its best long-term interests at heart.

“Arsène has a contract until the end of the season. Any decisions will be made by us mutually and communicated at the right time in the right way.”

It’s pretty much the same status quo as we’ve heard all along- Wenger will have input to the decision, and we won’t know until after the season, or whenever they feel like telling us.
