Due to both time constraints, and the lack of popularity and success (this isn’t exactly the era of Mark Rypien, Tim Rosenbach, Ryan Leaf and Drew Bledsoe) surrounding this specific program, the Washington State Cougars edition of the college football 77 in 77 will be briefer than other editions.
But hey, at least you’re not South Carolina. Due to the belligerence, rudeness and pure idiocy of a small subset of Gamecocks fans, the SC Gamecocks will not be previewed this college football season.

And the RUNNING GAME WAS DEAD LAST IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL, so there’s nowhere to go but up now. The Cougs will be able to pass the ball very effectively. They’ll have to, since they can’t run it at all. I still think they’ll make some strides this year. The schedule does not scare me; not one bit. Oh wait, this is WSU we’re talking about, those winnable looking games aren’t exactly winnable for them.
Washington State Cougars reasons to get worried :( It didn’t take long for Mike Leach to get in trouble, did it? Granted the entire coaching staff was cleared of any wrongdoing, he was still investigated for abuse, right in year one. Given the Draconian, so hard line and right-wing reputation that precedes him, it’s only a matter of time before trouble arises again. Perhaps not, maybe Leach has turned a new leaf? Don’t bet on it though. The offense needs to learn how to run the ball and manage clock to keep that poor defense off the field. Last year, the idea of pass defense and ball control was pretty much engage in lordosis position for the position. You don’t want to see the numbers in turnover margin and yards allowed passing.
Washington State Cougars Key games: forget competing with Oregon, see what they can do versus Stanford in September. With Auburn and USC off the mat, they’ll be 0-2 out of the gates.
Washington State Cougars bottom line: They could be better than their record indicates, but 5-7 is your best case scenario with 4-8 or 3-9 possible.
