TSB.net All-Big Ten Honors
1st Team
*Talor Battle (Penn State)- Led conference in scoring, second in assists on the surprise Nittany Lions
*Evan Turner (Ohio State)- Everything in the Buckeye offense ran through Turner
Kailin Lucas (Michigan State)- Lucas with the lid off emerged as conference champ’s leader
Manny Harris (Michigan)- Despite shooting inconsistencies, is the conference’s best all-around player
Kevin Coble (Northwestern)- Leading scorer on Big Ten’s most improved team
2nd Team
JaJuan Johnson (Purdue)- Probably the conference’s most improved player came up big when Hummel was hurt
DeShawn Sims (Michigan)- One-half of two-man team
Robbie Hummel (Purdue)- Disappointing season hampered by back spasms
E’Twaun Moore (Purdue)- Still a very solid year, but didn’t make the jump that many thought he would
Demetri McCamey (Illinois)- His ability is unlimited on offense. Defensively on the other hand…
Honorable Mentions:
Raymar Morgan (Michigan State)
Craig Moore (Northwestern)
William Buford (Ohio State)
Jamelle Cornley (Penn State)
Mike Davis (Illinois)
*Unanimous vote
Co-Players of the Year: Battle and Turner- No two players meant more to their team than these two guys. What’s scary is that they are both sophomores.
Freshman of the Year: Buford- Gets the nod over the pre-season favorite, fellow Buckeye B.J. Mullens
Coach of the Year: Ed DeChellis (Penn State)- Everyone expected Penn State to be an improved team this season, but not many figured they finish 10-8 and on the verge of an NCAA Tournament at-large bid.
Defensive Player of the Year: Damian Johnson (Minnesota)- His ability to guard players on the perimeter and inside gives him the nod over the likes of Travis Walton, Chester Frazier, and Chris Kramer.
