There was talk that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho could be sacked with the next Blues loss. There was talk he could be fired even if Chelsea advanced to the knockout round of UEFA Champions League. Well Mourinho got it done and the West London side are through to the elimination please of the European Cup.
There are six teams that Chelsea could face when they receive their draw on Monday. Mourinho believes that his side is the club that everyone wants to face right now.
That assessment of Chelsea is definitely less than positive. As is this story in the Daily Mirror today- “Former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu has labeled Jose Mourinho as a ‘fake’ and ‘finished’ as the champions’ Premier League struggles continue.”
Mutu, who enjoyed a tumultuous relationship with Mourinho during his short but controversial stay at Stamford Bridge between 2003 and 2004, told MirrorFootball:
“He has been a great coach in the past, but as a person, he is fake.”
“He only looks after himself, and has no consideration for how his players are feeling and thinking. You could not go and talk to him.
“As a coach, he is finished. There is no way back for him. How do you come back from something like this [current form]?”
Wow! Mourinho is a very polarizing figure but few have called him both washed up and phony at the same time. It has indeed been a rough year at Stamford Bridge, the Blues are so far down the table that they’re far off from the relegation zone.
According to a story in the Daily Mail today “There is not a single Manchester United, Liverpool or Chelsea player in the Premier League team of the season so far.”
