Northwestern quarterback Kain Colter left Saturday night’s game early with an “upper body injury” after just two plays. “Upper body injury” sounds like it describe the Chicago Blackhawks at the San Jose Sharks instead of #NUvsCal.
All joking aside, most reporters seem to think Kain Colter suffered a concussion. If this is true, then his injury is quite serious. Starting CB Dan Jones left with a very serious looking leg injury. And star tailback Venric Mark was very limited in touches, getting about 40% as many carries as he usually does.
Marknado also spent time on the sideline on a stationary bike in situations where he normally would be playing. Here’s updates on all of them.
Jones will have surgery and is out for the year.
Kain Colter day-to-day. There is no two-deep roster this week in the NU game notes. The official injury report comes out Thursday night. I’m guessing, and this is just a guess, it will say Kain Colter questionable or Kain Colter probable.
Venric is also day-to-day. I guess he’s dinged up more than we know. Pat Fitzgerald said he “Wouldn’t say he came out of fall camp 100%.” And had a “lower body injury.” Again with the hockey talk.
Now we know why Venric Mark was not returning kicks at all in week one. Especially when he was a first team All-American Return Specialist.
