Yet again Illini nation must say “hey, thanks for coming!” to a college basketball player. Myke Henry is the fourth Illini baller to leave the Big Ten program this offseason. No biggee, the Illini have a tremendous recruiting class coming in, and a couple transfers. Illinois basketball is seeing a lot of influx of players; just as they’re seeing an exodus too.

Henry attended Chicago’s Orr High, and he did contribute some quality minutes this past season under first year coach John Groce.

According to the Champaign News-Gazette, Henry’s high school assistant said the forward is looking for a fresh start. Mike Shaw, Devin Langford and Ibby Djimde also announced their transfers from the Illini program.

Henry, a 6-foot-6 forward, played in 35 games and averaged 10.6 minutes with 2.1 rebounds and 3.2 points per game during his sophomore season. As a freshman Henry scored a career-best 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting for the Illini and had two steals vs. Chicago State (Nov. 27) This past season, he scored 11 at Michigan State. He also put up a 12 and 9 in the Illini win over Nebraska.
