Like country music recording artist Kip Moore said “there’s somethin’ ’bout a truck.” And there’s definitely something souped up about the pick-up trucks of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. James Buescher won the NCWTS American Ethanol 225 at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois Saturday night.

It was his third win this season, and in his 82 race career.

Brendan Gaughan led 83 of the race’s 150 laps, but finished second. He spun out his tires on a restart, and it cost him the race.

“I gave an opening and that’s what you can’t do,” said Gaughan.

“I’m pretty upset, and second place looks pretty good but not when you have a truck this good. But you just gotta shake your head. I’ll keep putting myself in the position, and hopefully we’ll finish it off.”

It was his second top ten finish this season. Timothy Peters, who finished third, leads the points standings 23 points over Ty Dillon.

A few milestones were set in this race:

Four time truck series champion Ron Hornaday Jr. accrued his 50,000th lap on lap 72. Todd Bodine made his 200th start in the NCWTS. He’s the nly driver with at least 200 starts in all 3 of NASCAR’s series.  At the age of 48, he’s made 241 Cup starts and 325 Nationwide Series events.

Chicagoland Speedway is located in a very rural setting; don’t be fooled by the track’s name. The massive speedway is located amidst corn fields and wide open land; quoting Moore again “There’s somethin’ ’bout a truck in a farmer’s field.”
