Tony Romo, 2nd most boring interview ever, out for the season

Dallas Cowboys QB and whipping boy/scapegoat Tony Romo is out for the season, multiple sources report. That means he’ll miss the play-in game Sunday night between Dallas and Philadelphia. This battle for the NFC East title and a trip to the playoffs was flexed into the national prime time game because the winner heads to the playoffs while the loser begins recreational golf season.

The absence of Tony Romo has already turned the tide 6 points in Vegas. Dallas went from 3 point favorite to 3 point underdog when the Romo news broke.

So while the ‘Boys are forced to go with Kyle Orton now instead, and maybe no Tony Romo means a less competitive game, it also means we won’t be subjected to the horror that is a Tony Romo interview and/or press conference. No sideline interview of Romo, the second most boring person on this Earth will be conducted. Tom Brady is the first most boring human alive.

NFL Network analyst and former football superstar Deion Sanders said two years ago that Tony Romo would NOT be the Dallas Cowboys quarterback when the franchise won it’s next Super Bowl. Actually I saw the segment on air when he criticized Romo’s game, and he kind of came off pretty harsh.

It took all week, but Tony Romo eventually gave Deion this bORING, cliche convention of a response.

“Every once in a while you definitely hear things that come out, but that’s not something you search out. Deion’s welcome to his own opinion about stuff. Deion’s Deion. He is what he is. We’re going to go out here and we’re going to play good football.”

BORING!!!!!!!

But there’s more bromides and tautologies. After this response, a Dallas Cowboys media relations staffer’s dream, Tony Romo gave more yawn-inducing, banal, trite canned remarks. Kudos to him for hitting so many sports media cliches in such few sentences.

“This team’s going to win a Super Bowl at some point, and it’s going to be exciting when that time comes. And when we look back we’ll know who was on what side of the fence during the tough moments. That’s exciting for us as competitors that we get a chance to get better and go out there and have a chance one day.”

YAWN.
