Oklahoma State Recruit LeBryan Nash Wins Dunk Competition

Last night at the McDonald’s All-American Game Jam Fest, pretty much everyone in the building thought Duke recruit Marshall Plumlee won the dunk competition. An overwhelming majority of the people at the Chicago State Convocation Center thought Plumlee took it, but the prize went to Oklahoma State recruit LeBryan James, who himself was a bit surprised he took home the award.

“I was, he’s (Plumlee) a great dunker, unfortunately for him the judges thought I was better, and that’s why I earned this trophy.“

Nash concluded his dunking session by sporting an orange giant-sized, novelty foam cowboy hat- an obvious reference to his future school.

“I try to be creative, give the fans what they want, a show,” Nash said of the hat. “You gotta listen to your mama, so I had to put it on.”

Nash is a 6-7, 230 pound 5-star recruit from Dallas, who choose OSU over Baylor, Kansas, St. John’s and Arizona.

His game has been compared to Ron Artest; although Nash probably has better perimeter skills. He is a very strong candidate to be a one-and-done guy in Stillwater, OK. He needs to mature and fully develop his game, if he wants to jump to the NBA, but his body-type, skill sets and obviously leaping ability are as good as you can find.

Nash is tremendous on the block, and a natural born rebounder with great hands. But what probably might hold him back is his all in between the ears. A few red flags have gone up regarding his behavior and character, and his immaturity could seriously hurt his draft stock.
