On Monday, representation of the Morocco 2026 World Cup bid took aim at their rivals North America, criticizing their proposal. The United States of America, Canada and Mexico joint World Cup bid got the last laugh this morning, as they were officially awarded the tournament minutes ago.

In Moscow on Wednesday, FIFA’s Member Associations were granted the opportunity to vote on the World Cup host for the first time in history and they favored North America over Morocco by a tally of 134 to 65. This marks the first time that three countries have been selected to co-host a World Cup, the first tournament that will take place in the new expanded 48 team format.

It’s going to be a very compelling tournament, as there are several countries with favorable odds of winning it all. This tournament is expected to generate record setting numbers at the sports books, as people will be doing internet wagering all over the world, just like they do with poker online terpercaya. There going to be a ton of online gaming over the next month, both involving sports, and non-sports.

There have been three previous World Cups played in North America, the most recent was the 1994 event in held in the USA. Mexico hosted the tournament in 1986 and 1970. Today’s vote occurred a day before the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, an event that is going to dominate sports media coverage all over the world for the next month.

Given the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling on sports gambling, the industry is set to take off in the USA moving forward, and will be well established by 2026. Thus the North America World Cup will arrive at just the right time.

“Hosting a World Cup is an extraordinary honor and privilege,” said Steven Reed, President of Canada Soccer and Co-Chair of the United Bid.

“Canada, Mexico, and the United States are ready to welcome the world to North America and serve as stewards of the largest FIFA World Cup in history. Our vision is of a world of opportunity for our Candidate Host Cities and for the global football community.”

Added Carlos Cordeiro, President of U.S. Soccer and Co-Chair of the United Bid:

“Hosting the 2026 World Cup is a rare and important moment to demonstrate that we are all truly united through sport. We are humbled by the trust our colleagues in the FIFA family have put in our bid; strengthened by the unity between our three countries and the CONCACAF region; and excited by the opportunity we have to put football on a new and sustainable path for generations to come.”
