Arsenal stars Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are out of contract at the end of the season- that’s been very well documented. If they don’t renew their deals by the end of the season, then the Gunners will lose both of them on a free transfer. This fact has also been extensively covered by the media.

The other option is for the club to sell them in the January transfer window, where The Emirates will no doubt have plenty of suitors.

However, this is no longer an option, according to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger who shot down the idea in his news conference today.

“Yes, I rule it out. For me, they stay until the end of the season. That’s what I decided at the start of the season. They go into the final year of their contract,” Wenger said today at his press conference previewing Wednesday night’s Premier League fixture against Huddersfield.

Wenger certainly asserted there that he maintains a lot of authority at the club. There was a potential deal to move Alexis Sanchez in the summer, to league rivals Manchester City, but it fell apart.

Mesut Ozil has been heavily linked to both Barcelona and Manchester United. Wenger would not speculate when asked about the duo’s long term future at the club.

“Will they stay longer? That’s impossible to answer today because I don’t know,” the Frenchman said. Wenger had previously said that the club was open to selling the pair in the winter transfer window.
