Miami Hurricanes Quarterback Brad Kaaya will likely be returning to school next season a source close to the program said.

Kaaya, a three year starter who is often mentioned as one of the few elite QB prospects in the draft class, has one more year of collegiate eligibility remaining.

Kaaya has until January 16th to make his decision, and he is strongly leaning towards returning to Coral Gables, a trusted source with very close ties to the Canes told The Sports Bank.

“I think he’s coming back, he really likes it there,” the source told us.

Who wouldn’t like it there?

Brad Kaaya is big man on campus for one of the nation’s traditional powers, located in one of America’s most glamorous cities; with an extremely pleasant climate.

Kaaya has led the Canes to a 7-4 record in 2016. They’re currently third in the ACC Coastal Division with two games remaining. Miami hosts Duke on Saturday, and on December 4th, the Canes will learn their bowl game destination.

Reportedly, a return to school is definitely the right call for Brad Kaaya, given what NFL.com scouts have had to say about his game and his overall draft stock.

The top QB prospects in this class all have an ACC flavor- Clemson’s Deshaun Watson, North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky and Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer. While ND remains an independent, they play an ACC heavy schedule and are often grouped with the Atlantic Coast Conference for some organizational purposes such as media and bowl affiliations. Kaaya developed a friendship with Kizer when the two first met as high school seniors at the 2013 Elite 11 quarterback camp.

Kizer, who’s Fighting Irish beat the Canes 30-27 on October 29th, has a big decision regarding his NFL Draft future to make himself. The Toledo native is widely considered to be a top 10, maybe top 5 pick, and he discussed the decision in front of him in great detail on Saturday afternoon.

Brad Kaaya is 215 for 352 passing on the season (61.1%), with 2,854 yards, 19 TDs, 7 INTs and a rating of 143. Earlier this season, reports surfaced that the Chicago Bears were actively scouting Kaaya, and that several representatives of the Bears organization had attended Kaaya’s games.

We can confirm, via the Notre Dame press box seating chart for the Miami game, Bears scouts, as well as General Manager Ryan Pace, in attendance for the ND-Miami game. However, with Kaaya returning to school, the Bears will have to look elsewhere in order to resolve their unsettled situation at the quarterback position with Jay Cutler.
