Sir Alex Ferguson inspiring Leicester City to big things

Leicester City are the feel good underdog story of this Premier League season. The Foxes were promoted to the English top flight in 2014-15, and here they are in year two as leading contenders for the title. As it stands right now, they’re top of the table; having accrued 47 points through 23 games.

Arsenal plays their 23rd game tomorrow, versus Chelsea in a London derby, and a Gunners win would tie them with Leicester for first place.

Success has many fathers and failure is an orphan. One of the men who helped bring the King Power Stadium resurgence to life is Sir Alex Ferguson.

Yes, according to a story in The Guardian, the influence of Sir Alex Ferguson shines at Leicester, with Leicester defender Danny Simpson saying his club are benefiting from the winning mentality bred by the former Manchester United boss.

Via The Guardian:

Simpson, like his team-mate Danny Drinkwater, is a graduate of United’s academy and he went on to spend four years as a professional on the Old Trafford books before being sold in 2010. Drinkwater left Manchester two year later but that pair, along with Kasper Schmeichel – the son of Peter – retain the attitude cultivated by Ferguson. Simpson believes that is one of the reasons why Leicester have not faded from this season’s title race.

Fergie is also in the news today for a second, completely different, reason. Cameras caught him at Old Trafford today saying something that was speculated to be “he’s gone.” Obviously, these same speculators believe that’s in reference to United’s Manager on the hot seat Louis van Gaal.

According to the Mirror, Jessica Rees, who has been lip reading for 42 years and been used by police and the CPS for legal cases, said Ferguson appeared to be very angry. Rees said that Fergie actually uttered the phrase “let’s hope so.”
