Brendan Rodgers and the rest of the Liverpool leadership have had an extremely busy summer. There’s been a slurry of signings, and it looks like there’s at least a couple more to come. The Raheem Sterling situation of course, overshadows all of it.

And the word on various news sites today indicates that we finally have closure.

BBC Sport, Sky Sports and Goal are all claiming today that Liverpool and Manchester City have finally agreed on a Raheem Sterling fee- £49 million.

So, as of today, the soap opera which began back in May when Sterling turned down a £100,000 a week contract extension, is finally over.

The Soccerex Football Value Index rated Raheem Sterling with a value of £35m, for what it’s worth.

Liverpool reportedly turned down two previous bids, including one for £40m. The club then told him he must be part of the trip to Australia and southeast Asia. Sterling then responded by sitting out of training, claiming that he was ill. It was thought that LFC was holding out for £50 million. They took one million pounds less. (close enough!)

Now everyone involved can all move on with their lives.
