Arsene Wenger refuses retaliation on Mourinho

ARSENAL-Arsene-wenger

Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger took the high road yesterday. The Gunners boss was given an opening to fire back at Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho, following his side’s 5-2 win at Leicester City, but he declined to do so. Mourinho, as often does, verbally opened fire on a rival manager this past Friday and Wenger was his target.

Wenger is often Mourinho’s favorite target, but this time the Blues boss antagonized the Frenchman without mentioning him by name.

The whole rant, which you can read here, was the paradigm of passive-aggression.

When given an opportunity to retaliate Wenger showed class and focused on the Premier League title race instead.

Wenger was asked if he feels like a “king” as Mourinho had called him.

“No, I feel I have just done my job with the team and for our fans,” he responded.

“That’s what you want. Honestly I’m not too much concerned about the other results. Thirty years in football now, and I know that what is important is to play football well.”

When asked if he gets away with things other managers do not, referring to another Mourinho claim, Wenger replied:

“No, I didn’t realize that, I must say.”
