You can’t ask for a better first half than that Manchester United fans! WOW! This is the kind of team that all that money approved by Ed Woodward can buy. This is the type of team that is guaranteed to finish in top four. This side is the kind of side that would be able to catch Manchester City and finish second.

(As Louis van Gaal liked to claim)

-Wayne Rooney strikes in the 33′ he has now five goals in his last six appearances across all competitions. 14 goals in his last 14 home Premier League apearances.

-Then you have to love the Captain’s celebration here as much as the goal. Rooney shows the ability to laugh at himself, and diffuse any potential story. The only thing that would make this phenomenal celebration better is if it happened in the game on Boxing Day.

-If United hold this lead, they’ll move to within a point of Arsenal, and two points of Manchester City. The Red Devils have not lost a home match while leading at halftime since 1984. Here’s Michael Carrick with a wonderful header at the 19′ set up by a beautiful pass from Marouane Fellaini

Speaking of Fellaini, he’s really working out this season; not so much last year. Fellaini was a flop under David Moyes last season, but he’s coming much closer to living up to his price tag under LVG this season. Here’s his brace at the 9′ mark.
