Liverpool Made More in Transfer Sales than Any European Club this Decade

Former Liverpool FC manager Brendan Rodgers missed out on huge opportunities to reshape and upgrade the club with the money he gained from the Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling sales. In both cases, he brought in a multitude of forwards, most of whom flopped.

In 2015, he hitched his wagon to Christian Benteke, who obviously failed, and found himself out the Anfield door; replaced by Jurgen Klopp. While Liverpool haven’t been winning much lately, they did place first in one area- transfer money gained this decade.

Acccording to CIES Football Observatory, the Reds took in an astounding €442 million from big-5 league clubs (Spain, England, Italy, Germany, France) over the period 2010-present. Half of that amount came from the sale of just three players- Suarez, Sterling and Fernando Torres. Now that’s the stat of the day right there.

Liverpool FC didn’t just edge it out for the top spot either. Anfield came in #1 with a bullet; topping Valencia by ten million Euro.
