Louis van Gaal has had a miserable tenure at Manchester United. The fanbase was extremley excited when The Iron Tulip was hired, and expectations were raised when LVG led the Netherlands to a third place finish at the World Cup in 2014. Then came United’s undefeated preseason leading into Van Gaal year one.

Sadly, the team’s record is now in the worst place it has even been in at this point of a Premier League season (41 points after 26 games) It’s certainly time for some good news which could potentially serve as a minor “pick me up” for the embattled United fanbase.

Enter team legend Sir Bobby Charlton.

The South Stand at Old Trafford will be named for Club Director Sir Bobby Charlton, who is United’s all-time leading scorer with 249 goals in 758 appearances. Sir Booby won three First Division titles, one FA Cup and the 1968 European Cup during his United career (1956-1973).

The renamed stand will be unveiled on April 2nd against Everton. The North Stand is named for another knighted Red Devils icon, Sir Alex Ferguson. Maybe this development is doesn’t really boost morale very much, especially when the team is playing worse than they did even under David Moyes, but it’s still a nice change of pace.
