’09 Final 4 Villanova basketball team playing in semi-pro tourney

For Villanova basketball fans, it’s a very long offseason. Especially when you consider the painful and disappointing way it ended, the Wildcats getting dismissed from March madness much earlier than anyone anticipated. Well, next year Villanova basketball will be very strong, as they’ll carry the flag for the Big East conference. In the summer, Wildcats fans, needs something to talk about.

TBT, “The Basketball Tournament”is a new basketball tournament launching this June in Philadelphia. From June 6-8, 32 teams will compete for $500,000 at Philadelphia University, with the championship game held on June 28.

One of the teams, named ROBY (Rock Out Be You) brings back Villanova’s 2009 Final Four team, including Scottie Reynolds, Dante Cunningham, Dwayne Anderson, Corey Fisher and Reggie Redding. This time, however, Villanova basketball aims is to win the whole thing in front of their own home town fans.

Players of note playing in TBT are Josh Selby, Dahntay Jones, Marshall Henderson, Hakim Warrick, Edgar Sosa, Lenzelle Smith Jr., Sean Singletary, Rashad McCants, Smush Parker and Austin Freeman, Chris Wright.

“This is the only place in the world you’ll get to see Princeton versus the reigning Rucker Park champions or a group of kids who grew up together on a cul-de-sac in the middle of Michigan against recent NBA players,” says TBT Founder Jonathan Mugar.

“The stakes will be the highest of any event in the world, and we have absolutely no idea which of these teams is going to win.”
