Manchester United’s interest in William Carvalho has been well documented. It was even reported earlier that United had reached an agreement. Not a formal deal, but that they had agreed on an amount to trigger his release clause. Well, maybe not. That report didn’t come to fruition.

However, with Louis van Gaal taking over, the pursuit of William Carvalho is supposedly renewed.

Portuguese reports suggest that Manchester United are keen to explore the possibility of meeting Carvalho’s sizeable £37.5 million release clause in a bid to bring the midfielder to the Theatre of Dreams. After losing out on Toni Kroos, Old Trafford are back in.

 From the Daily Express:

Carvalho, 22, has previously denied wanting to leave Sporting Lisbon, but is now open to the idea after Portugal’s early exit from the World Cup in the group stages.

“Will I stay at Sporting? I don’t know. I’m going back to Portugal and then we’ll see,” Carvalho said.
