Man United will reportedly up Neymar bid to £150m in January

On September 26th, FC Barcelona superstar Neymar admitted that Manchester United did in fact pursue him. We all laughed at this rumor’s silliness during the summer, but United did go after Neymar and transfer talks were held between Barca and United.

From The Guardian, back then:

When asked about United’s interest, the Barça star told ESPN Brazil: “We had conversations, but there was nothing concrete. I heard that there were offers but none were made to me.”

Getting back to the latest developments in present time. This comes from The Telegraph:

Today reports are doing the rounds that United are preparing a quite preposterous £143.9 million offer to sign the Brazilian next month.

Apparently, Louis van Gaal has been given a £200 million kitty to spend on transfers to improve his squad and it seems like he’s prepared to nearly throw all of his lot on one man.

Supposedly, the Neymar narrative is much more believable this time around because of a potential financial crisis at the Camp Nou. The have the best attack in the world but it comes with a huge price tag. That player roster doesn’t pay it for itself, and the plans for a new stadium means its time to do some fund-raiser.

Still, we’ll believe the Neymar to Old Trafford talk only when we see it. In the meantime, let’s have some fun with it.

Check out some of the best of Twitter’s reaction to the Neymar rumors this past summer. Lots of people found it hilarious:
