Wesley Sneijder has revealed the reason he declined an offer to join Manchester United. The answer may surprise you, and Louis van Gaal claims that no player he’s been seriously interested in has turned him down.
Missing out on Champions League hasn’t been an issue. Until now.
“Louis is one of the most intelligent men in football – and I knew of Manchester United’s interest in the summer.” Wesley Sneijder is quoted by The Metro.
“It was flattering – but I am very happy in Turkey – and it is very hard to leave Champions League football.”
So there you go. Back in December, it was rumored that then Manchester United manager David Moyes was trying to complete a deal with wingers Nani and Antonio Valencia for Galatasaray’s Netherlands midfielder. Nothing happened of course. But as we learned during the World Cup, Sneijder coming to Old Trafford was again a possibility. The Turkish club want a fee of around £16 million claimed The Sun.
