Luke Shaw Injury Thought to be Season Ending (Yet Again)

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has really had an extremely unfortunate career with the English giants. Prior to suffering a minor groin tear in midseason, Luke Shaw had been settling in at the starting left back position, making for a really nice story given how he was coming off a horrifying 2015-16 that ended back in September with a gruesome broken leg; an injury he suffered in the UEFA Champions League group stages at PSV Eindhoven.

This season has of course also seen Shaw having to deal with his Manager Jose Mourinho calling him out and throwing him under the bus repeatedly.

Shaw has been extremely injury prone during his time at United, who gave him what was then the richest contract ever for a teenage footballer. Now it appears he is done for the season yet again. The Guardian reports that Shaw will miss the rest of the year, and England’s friendly against Scotland.

The publication writes:

Shaw will discover the results of a scan on a foot injury in the next 24 hours but is reluctantly preparing to write off his season, in another blow for the 21-year-old defender.

The left-back was taken off after eight minutes of United’s 1-1 draw with Swansea on Sunday, with manager Jose Mourinho claiming the problem “must be a big injury” in a swipe that appeared again to question his commitment.

Shaw joins Marcos Rojo as United defenders out for the season. Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are also gone with long term injuries. Eric Bailly joined Luke Shaw in getting hurt on Sunday leaving the Red Devils with next to nothing, fitness wise in the back line.
