Adam Dunn, who plays the position of Designated Hitter is hitting .159 for the Chicago White Sox this season. Kind of Orwellian doublespeak, a “DH” hitting .159. To his credit, he is on pace to hit about 40 home runs, and drive in about 90 runs. But is that worth $15,000,000 a season? Especially when you consider that he doesn’t draw walks anymore. This is what Adam Dunn is, White Sox people.
Move over Jaime Navarro, I think we have a new worst all-time signing in Sox history. Good job Kenny Williams, on locking up “Designated Hitter” Adam Dunn. If this season continues in the manner in which it started, move over Alfonso Soriano and the Cubs, because you now have an all-time worst signing in Chicago baseball history.
Congrats to the Big Donkey, Adam Dunn.
More numbers of note, Sox “slugger” Adam Dunn has an OBP of .254, SLG of .402 and OPS of .656. At 15 mil a year.
Uhm, yeah. So there’s that.
Since Adam Dunn arrived in the Major Leagues he has led MLB in both walks and strikeouts and is third in home runs. During his “good” year in a Chicago White Sox uniform, Adam Dunn hit .204. He did also hit 41 homers and drive in 96 runs, but it still doesn’t make up for the abomination that was his 2011. Had the Sox not intentionally sat Dunn he would have broken the MLB season strikeout record that year.
He also notoriously hit .159 with only 11 homers and 42 RBI. Don’t even ask what his batting average was versus left-handers. To quote “Careless Whisper” by Wham! “there’s no comfort in the truth, pain is allllllll you’ll find.” The current White Sox are on pace to break the club record for strikeouts set just last year. Who’s leading this K brigade?
Adam Dunn of course. He’s struck out in much more than a third of his 2013 at bats.
