When you look at the overall summer transfer window ledger, Chelsea FC ended up pretty much even. Overall, the additions and subtractions put them back in the same place that they were in when the window opened. On one hand, it’s great news, as Chelsea dominated the Premier League last season.
On the other hand, this same team is off to a very rough start in 2015-16, and oh, here comes Manchester City. Without a doubt, the Sky Blues were the big winner in this summer’s transfer window, and they’re off to a very fast start on the young season.
The Sky Blues have replaced the Blues as favorites to win the title. Getting Pedro was the headline move of the summer for Chelsea, and it’s still difficult to understand why Manchester United let him fall through their clutches and right into Jose Mourinho‘s hands.
Chelsea also replaced Petr Cech with Asmir Begovic, and made a nice addition in Baba Rahman.
Still, Mourinho wanted a top notch central defender, and they didn’t get one. The John Stones deal was never closed, but maybe that’s for the better considering the exorbitant price tag slapped on him? A couple of Stamford Bridge’s rivals improved themselves while Chelsea FC essentially stayed even keel.
We’ll see if Radamel Falcao can rediscover his goalscoring form at Chelsea. He was a low risk acquisition that could potentially provide a decent reward at some point this season.
