Premier League Season Predictions: Man City Title, Man United Runner-Up

man united, man city kits

As the elite comedian Daniel Tosh famously said: “they say money can’t buy happiness, no, but it buys a wave-runner.” Likewise, British pounds and Euros can’t buy a Premier League title, but it buys the most talented roster possible. At least on paper, you have to point towards Manchester to see the highest quality grouping of players.

Man City and Man United had blockbuster summers, spending big on critical roster additions. We predict the blue side of Manchester will rule the Premier League roost, with United coming in just behind them. Pep Guardiola needed time to adjust at The Etihad, to implement his way of doing things. We think the time is now right for the Citizens.

Liverpool Will Reportedly Not Be Disciplined for Virgil van Dijk Pursuit

virgil van dijk

According to both the Times of London and ESPN FC, Liverpool Football club will most likely not be punished for their pursuit of Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk. Liverpool issued a statement of apology to the south coast club earlier this month, maintaining that they have now ended their interest in pursuing the central defender.

Liverpool, who have bought quite a few Saints players in recent transfer windows, were facing allegations of “tapping up,” but it appears now that this situation will not escalate any further. It seems that LFC’s public mea culpa was enough to diffuse this dispute between Premier League clubs.

Ryan Giggs Says No EPL Clubs are Interviewing Him For Manager Jobs

As a manager, Ryan Giggs has yet to accomplish much. He still needs to cut his teeth somewhere and work his way up the ladder, but it appears he just not getting the opportunities. Premier League jobs open up, and Giggs just doesn’t get a shout out. He was linked to the Southampton job, but that was yet another example of a transfer rumor with no real credibility behind it.

The Saints were not at all interested in Ryan Giggs despite all that he accomplished as a player at Manchester United.

Ryan Giggs has accomplished a lot as a player at Manchester United. It’s hard to find a Premier League player who has accomplished more than Giggs at any club. However, as a manager he has yet to accomplish much. He still needs to cut his teeth somewhere and work his way up the ladder.

Man United Starting XI Prediction vs Southampton FC

Manchester United have already long conceded the race for a top four finish, and have gone all in with winning Europa League as the route back into UEFA Champions League. Thus, their trip to St. Mary’s, to take on Southampton, will be kind of a glorified friendly. Or at least an indifferent edition of the series, as the Saints also having nothing to play for. They are firmly entrenched as a mid-table side this year.

How To Be Taken Seriously As A Soccer Fan In The US

Generally speaking, soccer fans in the US get a lot of stick. Most of it stems from the fact they call it ‘soccer’ instead of ‘football.’ What fans back in Europe don’t seem to understand is that American Football is the number one sport over here. Of course, we don’t call it ‘American’ football, it’s just ‘football’ to us Americans.

So, if everyone started calling soccer ‘football’ as well, everyone would be confused! We don’t use the term soccer because we don’t respect the game or understand its history, it’s purely out of convenience.

Jurgen Klopp Says Southampton Draw is “not the end of the world”

jurgen klopp

Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp said his side’s inability to finish “made life not easy” in their 1-1 draw with Southampton. Klopp also said the result is “not exactly what they wanted” but also “not the end of the world” when it comes to meeting their ultimate goals for the season.

Getting one point, instead of three, obviously makes the race for the top four much more tight down the stretch. The Reds remain in third place, one ahead of fourth place Manchester City (who have a game in hand on Liverpool) and five ahead of Manchester United (who also have a game in hand on Liverpool).
