Taking home the gold in 2010 on Canadian soil would have been sweet for Team USA. Doing so against the hometown Canadians would have been that much sweeter. A silver medal was not expected with the talent on the ice for Team USA hockey, but now is the time to show that 2010 was more legitimate than fluky.
The core remains strong for the U.S., as Zach Parise, Patrick Kane, Ryan Suter, and Ryan Miller, among others, return. One player who was expected to suit up for the Stars and Stripes, Bobby Ryan, was left off the roster. Newcomers such as Kevin Shattenkirk, Cam Fowler, and James van Reimsdyk add an infusion of youth and untapped talent that can carry teams far into the Olympic round-robin tournament in Sochi. Led by Kevin Durant‘s 30 points, the USA basketball team claimed another gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics beating Spain, 107-100. With several players and possibly head coach Mike Krzyzewski not expected to return for the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the U.S. will have a good amount of turnover on their next Olympic roster. Here’s a sneak peek at what Team USA could look like in four years.

The Black Mamba isn’t Australia’s native snake, but the Australian national basketball team was struck not once, twice, or three but four times in a matter of a minute. Perhaps the fourth time proved to be the most lethal strike, as it helped Team USA extend its lead to 105-80 with 4:46 left in the fourth quarter. [Read more…]

LeBron James has had a great four months. How many players have done what James has the chance to do before? Let’s recap what James has accomplished in the last four months: NBA MVP, NBA Finals MVP and NBA Champion. He also put Team USA in prime position to win the Gold Medal in the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Well, that was quite the game yesterday, wasn’t it? Team USA put on a shooting display that I, personally, have never seen been before and I have watched a lot of basketball. Starting with Carmelo Anthony and stopping with Anthony Davis, Team USA showed the world why they are the best.

Disappointing wouldn’t be the exact word to describe Team USA’s first half against and over-matched Tunisia team. Pathetic or embarrassing would be more like it. Thankfully Team USA’s second unit, led by Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Love, helped them cruise to an easy victory in the end.

The first game for the 2012 USA Men’s Basketball team is in the books. They throttled their opponent, France, 98-71. Kevin Durant and LeBron James were brilliant for the US, leading them to an easy victory. Great defense led the way to the USA’s blowout of France. Team USA seems destined for Gold. [Read more…]

From the opening-tip it looked like we were in for a blow-out. Team USA got off to a hot start, opening the game on a 14-1 run thanks to Kevin Durant draining threes like they were free-throws. Of course, the scrappiness of the Argentines kept them in the game until the final buzzer.
