Nebraska Cornhuskers Taylor Martinez: Big Ten MVP?

Taylor Martinez

Nebraska Cornhuskers quarterback Taylor Martinez has improved his throwing mechanics quite a bit this year. Last season they were just plain unsightly. This fall he looks and throws like a top flight college football quarterback. And the numbers back it up, as he’s tossed 15 TDs against just 4 picks, 1,615 yards and 67% completion.

Wisconsin Badgers vs. #22 Nebraska Cornhuskers: Brutally Honest Preview

Excitement, mystery and revenge are just a few of the words that can be used to describe the start of the conference season for the Wisconsin Badgers and Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Both teams look to move forward from what was a disappointing non-conference slate from not only their-selves, but the entire Big Ten conference as a whole.

The Badgers are still searching for their offensive identity and the Huskers still have a bad taste in their mouth from the 48-17 drubbing Wisconsin handed them to open the conference season in Madison last year.

Battle for the Best in the Midwest; #8 Nebraska vs. #7 Wisconsin (Game Preview)

For the first time since 1962 (#3 Wisconsin vs. #5 Minnesota), two top-ten teams will face-off at Camp Randall Stadium. Nebraska fans are on a mission to scoop up as many tickets as they can to watch their favorite team in their Big Ten debut while the Badgers fans try to embrace a team who just might have a shot at a national title.

Every year at Big Ten media days, JoePa on dais is one of the biggest highlights.

There is always the token ghoulish question about his health/age. It happened again this year. He has a good time with reporters on it. And I’m not sure how much of his confused old man bit is contrived and how much of it is genuine.

-JoePa when asked about his contract: “Is this the last year of my contract?”

How Good/Bad Could Nebraska QB Taylor Martinez Be in 2011?

Nebraska Cornhuskers quarterback Taylor Martinez, sometimes referred to as “T-Mart” or “T-Magic” has a tendency to polarize Husker fans with his play. There are some fans who only know the guy thrust into the Heisman race after setting a NU QB record for rushing yards (241) versus Kansas State, the frosh record for passing yards in a game, and becoming the only Husker signal caller to throw for 300 and run for 100 in the same game.

Other fans only know the kid who played awful versus Texas, and saw his yards-per-carry average dip post-injury from 8.7 in the first seven games, to 1.5 in the final seven. Knowledgeable college football fans know that he’s somewhere in the middle, a hybrid of the two dualities.

“I think he’s always been a confident kid, he wasn’t a healthy kid at the end of last year,” NU Head Coach Bo Pelini told journalists at Big Ten media day.
