2 potential jurors in Sandusky trial wearing Penn St. shirts; 3 jurors selected

Having connections to Penn State University will not exactly eliminate your chances of serving on the jury for the Jerry Sandusky trial. Of course, sometimes the bias and slant is just way too obvious, like when potential jurors show up wearing Penn State t-shirts.

From the award-winning Sarah Ganim of the Patriot News:

Mike McQueary to sue Penn State, seek whistleblower status

mike-mcqueary

Former Penn State wide receivers coach Mike McQueary is filing a whistleblower lawsuit against Penn State. The paperwork was filed today on behalf of his lawyer Eliot Strokoff. That is his name- how unfortunate that we are not joking. You have to admit that’s funny.

Genuinely funny, not dark humor like how Jerry Sandusky is being represented by a man who impregnated a minor who was about a third his age.

A writ of summons for a civil case was filed in county court today; giving Penn State University notice that he’s suing them.

Joe Paterno’s 1992 Letter to College Presidents Reeks of Fraud

joe-paterno

Given what kind of year it’s been for Penn State, Jerry Sandusky and Joe Paterno, this old letter I saw republished on Athlon seems perfect for revisiting.  Sandusky looks guilty as sin for the crimes alleged against him, and Paterno looks like the complete opposite of the man who was named Sports Illustrated “Sportsman of the Year” in 1986.

Think about that for a second, the man who had his name removed from the Stagg Big Ten Championship trophy in disgrace last month was once named “Sportsman of the Year.”

This is an open letter Paterno wrote to the college presidents commission in 1992 regarding the importance of integrity and and the role that coaches play in helping provide for the welfare of young people.

Yes, he’s giving advice on these topics- a man who helped enable child rape.

I hope you enjoy the unintentional dark comedy.

joe-paterno

It was a very narrow margin, 52-43%, but the people of Pennsylvania do support the recent firing of Joe Paterno a Quinnipiac University poll of 1,453 registered voters said. The poll has +/- 2.6% margin for errors.

By a more overwhelming majority, 74-13%, voters supported the firing of former University President Graham Spanier.

Big 10 Statement on Penn St; Potential “Lack of Institutional Control”

penn-st.-logo

The open college football head coaching position at PSU looks much less attractive today. Public statements released today make future sanctions against the school look much more likely. The Big Ten Council of Presidents/Chancellor met this week to discuss several items, including the mess at Penn State University.

The Big Ten office issued the following statement from the COP/C:

Penn State’s Jerry Sandusky Arrested, Arraigned Again

jerry-sandusky

If you thought it was disgusting and disturbing that former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky was out walking around freely (as I certainly did) then you will no doubt exact a measure of satisfaction, a sense of justice from today’s news story.

I mean the guy lived across the street from an elementary school- how f***d up is that? And does/did have a wife? Who the f** marries a child molester? Then again, two women married a tree killing Alabama fan hillbilly, so I guess anything is possible.
