Redskins Ryan Kerrigan NFL Rookie of Month, Boiler Up, Purdue People

We knew he was going to be dominant at the next level. It was obvious when you saw how he tore up Big Ten offensive lines.

The National Football League announced today Washington Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan as the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month for September. He is the first Redskins player to win the award since Chris Horton in September 2008 and the fourth overall to receive the honor (Horton, Fred Smoot in September 2001 and Champ Bailey in October 1999).

It’s getting to be a bigger week for Purdue Boilermakers fans, at least on the NFL level. Curtis Painter should start at QB for the Indianapolis Colts this week.

NFL Draft Combine Stock Report: Winners

Bad news surrounds everything NFL these days. It appears a deal will not be reached by that artificial arbitrary deadline. But there’s always a bull market somewhere. And good news for all you home-gamers is…the NFL Draft is right around the corner, and the combine just concluded.

We updated out second round mock a couple days ago. And a new update for both rounds will be here by Monday.

In the meantime, this is the first of two lightning rounds of winners and two more of losers from Indy.

Ryan Kerrigan needs to be Purdue’s rock on Defense

When Purdue plays their opener at Notre Dame Saturday, they’ll do so with a ton of questions about their running game, offensive line, and secondary. The Boilers are no doubt confident in their passing game. This is Purdue, the school that gave us “basketball on grass” after all. But the strength of the team is probably the defensive line, led by senior defensive end Ryan Kerrigan, who enters his final season as fifth on the school’s all time list in sacks.
