January 13, 2012 By Jeff Trudeau

As Paul M. Banks pointed out in his most recent Big Ten Power Rankings, "power rankings are only fun when the hierarchy is rather grey and things are up in the air."  That properly describes the Big East this season as outside of Syracuse, there is no clear cut second best team in the conference.  Here are my latest Big East Basketball Power Rankings including the last place … [Read more...] about 2011-2012 Big East Basketball Power Rankings (1/13/12)

It was a bizarre Thursday night in the Big East as Pitt was upset at DePaul while Villanova got smoked by 17 at home against South Florida.  With the Panthers and Wildcats reeling to start conference play, there is some shake-up in our latest Big East Basketball Power Rankings. … [Read more...] about 2011-2012 Big East Basketball Power Rankings

2011-2012 Big East Basketball Power Rankings

December 30, 2011 By Jeff Trudeau

syracuse-orange

Last year, the Big East made history by sending 11 teams to the NCAA Tournament.  The depth of the conference was clear and obvious when a UConn team that finished with a 9-9 mark in Big East play cut down the nets.  With the league possibly entering the final year before Syracuse, Pitt, and West Virginia selfishly bolt for greener pastures (screw you, college football), the … [Read more...] about 2011-2012 Big East Basketball Power Rankings

Big East Tournament Preview and Predictions

March 7, 2011 By Jeff Trudeau

big east tournament

15 games in five days.  Ladies and gentlemen, that is the Big East Tournament.  Some think it is more difficult to win the BET than it is the NCAA Tournament.  With ten, possibly eleven tourney teams from the conference, that theory could actually be true this season.  Here is a preview and my predictions for the 2011 Big East Tournament which tips-off Tuesday morning. The college basketball regular season is coming to an end but there is still plenty of jockeying for position in the Big East standings heading into the conference tournament.  And as it stands, 11 teams figure to make the NCAA Tournament.  Here are my updated Big East Power Rankings. The Big East remains a crazy, wild, unpredictable basketball conference.  The top three teams all lost this past week and DePaul actually won a league game.  No, seriously.  Here are my updated Big East Power Rankings and be sure to check out my latest bracketology to see how many conference teams I have making the NCAA Tournament. The Big East is starting to get quite meddled in the middle as seven NCAA Tournament caliber teams have either five or six conference losses.  Here are my updated power rankings.  Check out my latest bracketology in which I still have 11 Big East teams dancing. Big East Basketball Power Rankings (1/18/11)

January 18, 2011 By Jeff Trudeau

In my most recent bracketology, 11 Big East teams made the NCAA Tournament projections.  It is not a crazy thought right now especially since nine teams are ranked in the AP Top 25.  Of course, once the season plays out and teams start to beat up on each other, a couple of those teams will struggle and take themselves out of the conversation like happens every year.  Here are … [Read more...] about Big East Basketball Power Rankings (1/18/11)

Kemba Walker UConn

Big East hoops action tips off with a behemoth battle on Big Monday when pre-season conference favorite Pitt hosts one of the surprise teams in the country and their Player of the Year breakout star, Kemba Walker of UConn.  Oh, and so much for this being a down year in the conference as five of the top nine ranked teams in the country call the Big East home.  Here are my Big … [Read more...] about Big East Basketball Power Rankings (12/26/10)

The college football season is right around the corner as camps are opening all across the country.  So what better time to start our team-by-team college basketball previews.  Yes, college BASKETBALL.  The season is still well over three months from tipping off but I have a Brett Favre-sized itch and dammit, I am going to scratch it. I will be ranking the top 99 teams in … [Read more...] about 99 in 99: #98 Rutgers Scarlet Knights
