Urban Meyer finds Ohio State defense ahead of offense thus far

Ohio-State-logo

The first Ohio State Buckeyes spring football season of Urban Meyer is about 1/3 way through. Much like last season, in which the defense was rather superior to the offense, Meyer expects the d have an advantage over the o in the early spring practice sessions.

“This early, the defense better win,” Meyer told about 35 assembled members of the media after practice. “They are playing well. The defense has two guys – John Simon and Johnathan Hankins – who are disrupting everything.”

Look for John Simon to be one of the most dominatnt defensive players on both the Buckeyes and in the Big Ten this year.

Five dumbest things ever said by Ohio St. President E. Gordon Gee

gordon-gee

As you can see from the picture above, Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee looks like a COMPLETE BUFFOON! Whenever he opens his mouth he only confirms what we suspect. I really can’t wait until this bowtied moron gets his come-uppance. I thought it would come, along with Athletic Director Gene Smith last summer during all the Terrelle Pryor-Jim Tressel scandal in Columbus.

Well, hopefully it comes soon as Capt. foot in mouth disease struck again yesterday. Man, don’t you just want to punch people wearing bowties in the face?

Ohio State President Gordon Gee Makes Offensive Polish Slurs

gordon_gee

THE Ohio State University? President Gordon Gee has once again made himself look like THE idiot of the Big Ten. The Penn State abomination has greatly overshadowed the scandal surrounding Gee’s Buckeyes program. The Prez really should have been the next one to step down/get fired after Jim Tressel, but here is with a job still; comparing that job to overseeing the “Polish army.”

Ohio State Keeps Fickell, Vrabel on Staff, Add Defensive Coordinator

Luke Fickell

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer added another staff member today: Everett Withers, the current interim head coach at the University of North Carolina.

Withers has been a collegiate coach for 17 years and has also worked seven seasons in the National Football League: six years (2001-06) as defensive backs coach with the Tennessee Titans under Jeff Fisher, and a year (1994) as a defensive quality control coach for the New Orleans Saints. In Columbus, he’ll serve as co-defensive coordinator with this year’s interim Head Coach Luke Fickell.

Penn State Beats Ohio State in “Scandal Bowl;” Tom Bradley’s 1st W

tom bradley

Interim Penn State Head Coach Tom Bradley told the media at his postgame press conference:

“This win isn’t about me; it’s about the players and this team. I don’t think any team in the history of college football has been through so much in such a time period and to hang in there and fight their way through it is great.”

And to some extent he has a point, the players are pretty much collateral damage in the Penn State scandal; they are made to suffer somewhat though they have done no wrong on their own. However, to a larger, more relevant extent: Mr. Bradley, would you like some cheese with that whine? Boo Effing Hoo, now is not the time to try and elicit sympathy for you and your bunch.

There are bigger issues and vastly more victimized people to think about right now.

Bradley has not come off very well in most of his media appearances since the scandal broke. If anything, he comes off almost as delusional and stuck in the insulated, egocentric PSU bubble as Paterno, Schultz, Curley et al.

But he did get his first win as Penn State Head Coach today.

#21 Penn State vs. Ohio State: Brutally Honest Game Preview

penn state rioting

Last week, the Penn State Nittany Lions played their first game after the biggest story is sports history unfolded on their campus. It led to their first Big Ten loss of the season. This week they’ll take to the road for the first time in the wake of the PSU pedophilia scandal, and face the team they knocked off the front page of the college football scandal sheet- the Ohio State Buckeyes.

There are four big traditional powers in the Big Ten, two of which (these two right here) are going to be down for awhile as they are programs in disarray. Of course, the level of disarray and the fallout yet to come is a million times worse at PSU.

OSU Buckeyes WR Devier Posey Must Sit Another 5 Games

devier_posey

As bad as things have been for the Ohio State Buckeyes offense this season, they’re probably not getting better any time soon. Possibly the most important on-the-field member of the Tattoo five, their best receiver by far, Devier Posey isn’t coming back until he serves another five game suspension.

This statement from Ohio St. AD Gene Smith says it all about what they’re feeling in Columbus.

“I am extremely disappointed with the NCAA’s decision regarding Devier Posey. This penalty is harsh considering the nature of the violation and the five game suspension already served by this student athlete.”

Ohio State A.D. Gene Smith announced today that further violations have been discovered and that three college football players have been declared ineligible for this weekend’s game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.  Those players are Marcus Hall, DeVier Posey and Daniel Herron. The university has submitted a request for reinstatement on behalf of each student-athlete, but it is anticipated that each will sit out at least the game this weekend.
