Amy Rodriguez dominates Chicago; propels KC to Final


Amy Rodriguez is a member of many teams: the United States Women’s National Team, FC Kansas City of the National Women’s Soccer League, and theoretically, Bill Simmons’ “Reggie Cleveland All-Stars.” Rodriguez is FCKC’s leader in assists, goals and shots. She is the focal point of their offense.

Today, she dominated the first of the two NWSL semifinal matches, scoring two goals in the first 25 minutes, as visiting KC routed Chicago 3-0. The Red Stars surrendered three goals in a 13 minute span that essentially rendered the remaining 65+ minutes irrelevant.

4 teams to watch in Men’s Soccer at the London Olympics

The Mens Olympic soccer competition kicks off tomorrow with group matches being played across the United Kingdom, from London to Glasgow.

Much has been discussed about the competition and its relative merits, especially in Britain where the decision to field a Great Britain team has been controversial. Usually, each individual country (England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland) is represented at international level, and some wish to continue that trend. Despite some negative publicity, the Olympics is still the oldest international soccer competition, and the prospect of representing one’s country is still very appealing to the world’s best players.
