Notre Dame Season Ends and Begins the same: Critical Red Zone INT

December 30, 2011 By paulmbanks

The season ending loss to the Florida State Seminoles had a few things in common with the season opening defeat to South Florida: the quarterbacks threw too many interceptions, especially in the red zone; the defense kept bailing out the offense only to see the O turn it over again. And the explosive Brian Kelly hissy fit on the sidelines, caught on national television. This … [Read more...] about Notre Dame Season Ends and Begins the same: Critical Red Zone INT

L.A. Lakers Sign Troy Murphy

December 19, 2011 By paulmbanks

Well it isn't the Chris Paul trade, but then again not every NBA team in Los Angeles can be the Clippers. There is that obscure little team called the Lakers too. Yesterday, the Lakers signed former Notre Dame star Troy Murphy to a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum, worth $1,352,181, which is a set figure by the league for all players with 10 or more years experience. … [Read more...] about L.A. Notre Dame vs. Florida State in Champs Sports Bowl

December 5, 2011 By paulmbanks

Last spring, well, it wasn't spring from a meteorological sense, but it was technically that season on the calendar, the #10 seeded Florida State Seminoles upset the #2 seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. It was a de facto road game for the 'Noles as they sent ND home early from the United Center in Chicago. That was the college … [Read more...] about Notre Dame vs. Florida State in Champs Sports Bowl

#4 Stanford Crushes #22 Notre Dame: (Andrew) Luck of the non-Irish

November 26, 2011 By paulmbanks

Two years ago Toby Gerhart, now with the Minnesota Vikings then with the Stanford Cardinal, ran for over 200 yards on Notre Dame. The performance moved him up the Heisman Trophy pecking order, and he lost (by the slimmest margin of all time) to current member of the New Orleans Saints then member of the Alabama Crimson Tide Mark Ingram. Tonight Andrew Luck, the mortal lock … [Read more...] about #4 Stanford Crushes #22 Notre Dame: (Andrew) Luck of the non-Irish

Duke Blue Devils, 903 and Mike Krzyzewski: Class Acts

November 17, 2011 By paulmbanks

In 1990, I was a grade-school student who loved sports, and had many teams. However, when it came to college basketball, I was at a loss. I grew up in Chicago. I love Notre Dame football, but beyond David Rivers and LaPhonso Ells, ND basketball left a lot to be desired. In the mid-80’s I loved Dallas Comegys and Rod Strickland, but after their respective departures, DePaul … [Read more...] about Duke Blue Devils, 903 and Mike Krzyzewski: Class Acts
