I don’t love the West Bracket. At. All. And by that I mean there is no stand out team who I want to pick going to the Final Four. Of all the brackets, this seems to be the most likely one to see a darkhorse emerges since I’m not sold on the top seed Gonzaga or #2 Ohio State.

Louisville earned the number one overall seed in the entire tourney and is the top seed in the Midwest Regional. With Duke and Michigan State in the region as well, it won’t be an easy ride to the Final Four for the Cardinals.
Happy Selection Sunday!!! Here is an updated college basketball Bracketology previewing what the 2013 NCAA Tournament might look like when the brackets are revealed today.

If you are like me and already have a post-college basketball NCAA Tournament depression; fear not. The Sports Bank has already released our preseason Top 25 for the 2012-2013 season which you can check out by clicking here. Follow paulmbanksFor the second straight season, Marquette has reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. While last year’s run was somewhat unexpected as an 11 seed, this year’s Golden Eagles were expected to do some damage as the third seed in the West Regional. Thursday evening in Albuquerque, Buzz Williams‘ team will match up with Billy Donovan and the seventh seeded Florida Gators with a trip to the Elite 8 on the line.
Follow paulmbanksFor the first time in program history, the Wisconsin Badgers are making back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances. In typical fashion, most critics were underestimating UW’s chances of advancing past the first weekend but Bo Ryan has done it again. The Badgers will match up with top seed Syracuse Thursday night in an East Regional game in Boston. Many were hopping off the Orange bandwagon after Fab Melo was suspended for the NCAA Tournament, but ‘Cuse avoided upset bids in the opening weekend to keep their dancing shoes shined.

North Carolina is the top seed in the Midwest Regional but Kansas figures to have a huge home crowd advantage in St. Louis that could propel them to the Final Four.

Syracuse is the team to beat in the East Regional but there are a couple other teams who are poised to make a run to the Final Four.

In my opinion, the West Regional is the deepest and has the most exciting possible match-ups of the four regionals as it features ten teams who won their conference tournaments and enter the Big Dance playing a high level of basketball.

I have more than held my own the past couple of years against ESPN’s Joe Lunardi and with my extreme college hoops nerdom, plan to do so again this year.
