Doron Lamb: stepping out of Kentucky shadows into NBA Draft

The top six players off the Kentucky Wildcats National Championship winning team will be among those taken in the 2012 NBA Draft.  That includes the sharpshooting Doron Lamb.  While he won’t hear his name called early in the lottery like former teammates Anthony Davis or Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, or even in the mid-first round like Terrence Jones or Marquis Teague; Lamb is confident he can be a solid contributor at the next level.

will barton nba draft

A breakout sophomore season in which he averaged 18 points and 8 rebounds per game, Memphis Tigers‘ shooting guard/small forward Will Barton earned Conference USA Player of the Year honors.  As a result, the Baltimore native decided to leave school early and enter the 2012 NBA Draft.  Even with those accolades, he remains a borderline first round pick.

Can Duke’s Austin Rivers live up to the hype in the NBA?

austin rivers nba draft

Due to his father being a former collegiate All-American, NBA veteran, and title winning head coach; Duke‘s Austin Rivers has been in the national spotlight for quite some time.  The Blue Devil shooting guard chose to enter the 2012 NBA Draft after just one season in college and carries a heavy burden as he transitions to the next level.

Duke’s Nolan Smith has Different Identity On and Off the Court

The Final Four means a bigger stage, brighter lights and more pressure. And in 2010, Duke’s Nolan Smith has brought his game up to another level on par with all the added media attention surrounding the ultimate weekend of college basketball. Following a career high 29 points in the Regional Final win over Baylor, Smith scored 19 (7-16 from the field, 4-9 behind the arc) against the Mountaineers. When Scheyer and Singler struggled with their shooting for much of the earlier rounds, it was Smith, the 6-2 junior from Upper Marlboro, Maryland that picked up the slack.

Obviously, the first two guys I mentioned were bigger names in college, but it’s Smith who might have the best NBA potential of the three. Remember his name this NBA Draft; especially when teams like the Chicago Bulls are on the board (with backcourt needs and a history of drafting guys from winning, high profile programs).

Smith’s success stems from his dual identity: nice guy off the court, cutthroat on the court.

Should a Marijuana Arrest Affect NBA Draft Stock? Washington St.’s Klay Thompson

Marijuana is not a Performance Enhancing Drug.

Unless the performance you want to enhance is consumption of Doritos and watching of “Harold and Kumar” movies.

That said, does the marijuana arrest of Klay Thompson actually have any relevance in determining his NBA Draft stock? Is this a character concern, or just a college kid doing what college kids do? It may not be long until even the U.S. joins Canada in making weed semi de-criminalized.

And Thompson is a a 6-6 185 pound guard, left Washington State after his junior year. He’s from the Pacific Northwest, which is so gloomy dude; but also a place where everyone truly appreciates nature broham.

A Pullman police officer stopped Thompson in March for a reported headlight out and smelled the odor of marijuana in the car. Thompson denied having the drug, and after a search warrant was obtained, the vehicle was impounded and 1.95 grams of marijuana was found.

Still, I’m not ready to deem him basketball Tim Lincecum. Even if his FG% his freshman year was .421 (just one number off! LOL)
