Michael Jordan “flu game” ad from NBA All-Star Weekend (video)

To me, the NBA Golden Age will always be the ’90s. I appreciate and enjoy the game today, but it peaked in the 1990s, period. Just like rap and r&b music. If that makes me a crotchety old man, so be it.

In Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals, with the series between the Chicago Bulls and the Utah Jazz tied at 2, Michael Jordan played despite being feverish and dehydrated from a stomach virus. In what is known as the “Flu Game“, or MJ’s “flu-like symptoms,” Jordan scored 38 points, including the game-deciding 3-pointer with 25 seconds remaining.

Cavs Kyrie Irving MVP of NBA Rising Stars game

Cleveland Cavaliers rookie Kyrie Irving made eight 3-pointers and finished with a Rising Stars game high 34 points Friday night helping Team Chuck beat Team Shaq 146-133 in the NBA showcase exhibition between the league’s best rookies and second year players. Washington Wizards point guard John Wall earned MVP honors last season as a rookie.

To back that claim up lets look– once again– at Kevin Love’s outstanding numbers.

21.4 points per game, 15.5 rebounds per game, and shooting .439 from the three-point line this season through the Timberwolves first 48 games this season.

Unfortunately those numbers weren’t enough for the NBA coaches to select Love to the 2011 NBA All-Star game. [Read more…]

Timberwolves’ Kevin Love Rapidly Rising to Stardom

I “fearlessly predicted” back in October that Kevin Love would average 18 points and 13 rebounds. Oh how that has proven to be an understatement.

On the year Kevin Love is averaging 20 points per game, and 15.3 rebounds per game. Far higher than the “fearless” numbers that I predicted back in October.

On November 12 myself and a group of my friends headed to the Target Center to catch a Friday night Minnesota Timberwolves game. We went to the arena to celebrate a buddy of mine’s 24th birthday, but we left being a part of NBA History.
