West Virginia Could Lose $650,000 on Orange Bowl Tickets

The Orange Bowl required West Virginia University to purchase 17,500 tickets. WVU has sold just 7,500 of that allotment for their Jan 4th match up with Clemson. Even the most optimistic of projections have them coming well short, and eventually losing about $650,000 on the Orange Bowl ticket agreement.

West Virginia is also competing with other sources that are selling Orange Bowl tickets for less. The lowest ticket prices through the school are $99 in the upper level, but on Monday afternoon, StubHub.com had tickets for the Orange Bowl as low as $19…

West Virginia to Replace Missouri in Big 12

The carousel keeps moving in college football conference expansion and relocation. Today it leaked that the West Virginia Mountaineers have been approved to replace Missouri Tigers in the Big 12 conference. The conference board of directors approved the move to take place once the Mizzou move to the SEC is complete.

WVU leaving the Big East obviously leaves an already very weak football conference to become even weaker. The Big East is already reeling from the loss of TCU, Syracuse and UConn. The Mountaineers over the Tigers probably means a push in football, but an upgrade in college basketball.

#18 West Virginia Mountaineers: College Football 77 in 77

The tallest midget. The most intelligent Kardashian sister. The most interesting reality “star.” The richest man in Joliet. The least fattening funnel cake. These are all synonyms for the best team in the Big East. Yes, it’s a super conference in college basketball; but in college football…well, I’ve already thrown up enough this week.

And in 2011, the most sober frat boy award goes to…..the West Virginia Mountaineers. Hey someone need to snag that BcS bid.
