Montee “Touchdown” Ball breaks the NCAA FBS Record

It didn’t take long as the Wisconsin Badgers Montee Ball scored his 79th and record-breaking touchdown in the first quarter of UW’s season finale at Penn State.

Ball rushed 17 yards on a sweep to the right in which he tip-toed down the sideline and walked in for the historic score.

No single player in NCAA FBS history has scored more touchdowns than Ball has during his career at Wisconsin.

How can the Wisconsin Badgers Montee Ball get back in the hunt for the Heisman?

The 5-2 Wisconsin Badgers have been on a roller-coaster to start the season as has their best player in running back Montee Ball.

During the off-season, Ball was ticketed during a block-party and then assaulted by five men not far from his apartment building. The season started off just as rocky with sub-par performances from Ball behind a makeshift offensive line, all while the Badgers searched for an offensive identity during their first five games.

It would all change in a game against Purdue though, when Ball broke off a career-high 247 yards and became the Big Ten’s all-time leader in touchdowns with 72.

As Head Coach Bret Bielema pointed out during his weekly teleconference, Ball is “definitely feeling the mojo.”

Oregon State pulled off the biggest upset of the young college football season on Saturday, stunning the #13 Wisconsin Badgers 10-7 on their home-field.

Wisconsin Badgers underwhelm in win over Panthers (Rapid Reaction)

The Wisconsin Badgers season opener against the Northern Iowa Panthers didn’t go quite as planned, but they did pull out the 26-21 win. All things considered, the Panthers (0-1) had a legitimate shot to take the lead late in the fourth quarter until the Badgers (1-0) defense buckled down and saved the game.

Last season, former quarterback Russell Wilson and offensive coordinator Paul Chryst had the Badgers scoring in less than sixty seconds, but it appears new OC Matt Canada and the Badgers will return to a more traditional and conservative approach in 2012.

Montee Ball Ties Barry Sanders’ Season TD Record!

montee-ball-td-record

Wisconsin Badgers tailback supreme Montee Ball has done it! With a 3 yard touchdown run in the 2nd quarter of the Rose Bowl, Ball etched his name into the record books; tying a milestone that stood for over 20 years: Barry Sanders of Oklahoma State 39 TDs in1988.

Sure, the 4 TDs he Sanders scored in the bowl game didn’t count towards his total. (Rule change means Ball’s TDs do count). And with that Ball got 3 extra games on Sanders to reach the record.

But if you look at total touches, it’s a totally different story.
