Twins Should Trade Michael Cuddyer

The trade deadline is fast approaching in Major League Baseball. It is a unique season, so the date is largely ignored due to the NFL free agent comings and goings. Twins General Manager Bill Smith has some tough decisions to make. The team is on the borderline of heading into contention for the stretch run or on the cusp of faltering into the depths of the cellar in the division.

This is the type of decision that he can make from watching the club on a daily basis and getting a feel for which direction they are headed. I think that he should choose to sell at this juncture. White Sox Fire Sale? Edwin Jackson traded to Blue Jays, Danks and Floyd on Trading Block

Earlier today, the White Sox traded pitcher Edwin Jackson and utility man Mark Teahen to the Blue Jays for reliever Jason Frasor and minor-league pitching prospect Zach Stewart. Jackson may not even have time to put a Jays cap on as he is expected to be traded to the Cardinals in a deal for CF Colby Rasmus. Rasmus was recently the center of trade rumors with the White Sox in a deal for Carlos Quentin and Matt Thornton. Jackson was inconsistent in his time with the White Sox but has been solid as of late. He is 7-7 with a 3.92 ERA in 19 starts for the White Sox.

Does this trade indicate White Sox GM Kenny Williams has officially waived the white flag on the 2011 season or is he building on strengths for a stretch run?

As the Sox blew another two-run lead in the ninth, it is obvious something needs to change. Just two days after White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said he would likely stick with Matt Thornton as his closer, he brought in rookie Chris Sale. Sale quickly got into trouble, so he turned to Thornton, who blew his 4th save in as many chances.

Here are the top trade candidates followed by possible internal solutions within the organization who might to assume the role.

white-sox-trades

Despite a frenzy of activity and a ton of “possibilities” the 2010 MLB non-waiver trade deadline passed with the Chicago White Sox making only one trade.

While I’m an optimist that Edwin Jackson’s career will be revived under the guidance of Don Cooper, was his acquisition enough to help the White Sox win the AL Central?

World Series Contenders?

If GM Kenny Williams’ trade attempts are any indication of needs, he still thinks they need more hitting. Let’s examine the top trades that didn’t happen.
