Charlotte Bobcats: 2012-13 NBA Season Preview

The Sports Bank will be counting down to the opening tip of the 2012-13 NBA season with team by team previews starting with the worst and working our way to the title contenders.  There is no lockout this time around so let’s get going.

After finishing with the worst winning percentage in NBA history, the Charlotte Bobcats have nowhere to go but up.  Their rise won’t be rapid but owner Michael Jordan made a couple of minor moves that should make the ‘Cats slightly more competitive this season although not likely enough to get them out of the cellar of the Eastern Conference.

Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Bobcats: on pace for NBA’s worst season ever

It’s the very definition of irony. Not coincidence or “a bummer” mislabeled as irony, which you’ll hear from third-rate television and newspaper journalists everywhere. Michael Jordan, who won six titles with the Chicago Bulls, and is widely considered the greatest player in NBA history, has been an abject failure as an owner.

His NBA franchise, the Charlotte Bobcats, is 3-26 and on pace to have the worst season in NBA history. Talk about having a dichotomy in your legacy.

Michael Jordan and Charlotte Bobcats Face Long Road Ahead

From their financial troubles to a likely re-building project during the next couple of years, controlling owner Michael Jordan has his hands full in trying to turn the Charlotte Bobcats into a consistently competitive NBA franchise.  His Airness failed in his attempt at running the Washington Wizards and enters a critical off-season in which the Bobcats have a long list of needs.

I do not think there is a team that I am less interested in watching play this season than the Charlotte Bobcats.  But in an Eastern Conference where the seventh and eighth playoff spots are anyone’s for the taking, Michael Jordan’s squad could very well make their second straight trip to the NBA Playoffs.
