Welcome to The Sports Bank’s third annual college basketball season preview series.  Two years we looked at 99 teams in 99 days.  Last year, we were slightly more aggressive and expanded to 111 teams in 111 days and will do so again as we look ahead to the 2012-2013 season.

We will rank the 75 power conference teams and top 36 mid-majors in reverse power ranking order.  We’ll break down rosters, transfers, incoming freshmen, non-conference schedules, and pick a player to watch for each team.

Led by an experience senior core, the Long Beach State 49ers put together an extremely successful 2011-2012 campaign.  With their top four scorers gone, Dan Monson will rely on a pair of sophomore and several transfers to keep the program atop the Big West Conference.

With graduation, players leaving early for the NBA Draft, and transfers galore; college basketball teams are experiencing more year-by-year turnover than ever before.  Here are five teams who made the 2012 NCAA Tournament this season but will likely take a step back next year and have their work cut out for them if they want to return to the Big Dance.

The Long Beach State 49ers face an absolutely brutal non-conference schedule.  If the can survive that stretch, once Big West play begins… in the words of Dr. Dre at the end of California Love, “Long Beach in tha house!”
