Linsanity flooded the sports world this past NBA season as Jeremy Lin brought a fresh of breath air to the New York Knicks franchise.  At the top of the Knicks’ off-season questions; will they be able to re-sign Lin and build off their strong play late in the year?

New York Knicks Must Follow Miami Heat Blueprint

Like we are currently seeing in the NFL, the 2011 NBA off-season is up in the air with a lockout looming.  Free agency could be delayed and completely restructured depending on the new agreement reached by the owners and players.  Still, The Sports Bank continues to break down all thirty NBA teams to see what areas they need to address in the off-season.

The New York Knicks have formed their own superstar tandem with Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony.  Now the franchise must follow the Miami Heat game plan from last off-season and find the right pieces to compliment their star players.

Are the Knicks a Playoff Team This Season?

Amare Stoudemire Knicks

The New York basketball revolution has begun.  It did not receive the immediate boost this off-season as LeBron, Wade, and Bosh chose to join forces in South Beach rather than the Big Apple.  Still, the signing of Amare Stoudemire is the first piece to the puzzle for the Knicks to regain respectability in the NBA and compete for an Eastern Conference playoff spot.

Chris Paul Trade Possibilities

Chris Paul trade

Chris Paul is reportedly unhappy and wants out of New Orleans. The face of the Hornets apparently does not think the franchise has made the necessary moves to surround him with the talent needed to make a run at an NBA title and will sit down with management Monday to discuss his future. The end result could involve CP3 demanding a trade out of the bayou in hopes of pulling a LeBron James and aligning himself with another top tier player.

Rumored wish lists have begun to surface about where Paul would like to end up if the trigger is in fact pulled on a trade. New York and Orlando seem to his preferred destinations with Dallas and Portland also being discussed. Allow me to put my trade machine expertise to work and throw out some potential deals like Ron Burgundy throwing out sexual advances at Veronica Corningstone.

(Note: In no way I am supporting any of these trades or saying the Hornets would or should make these deals. They are clearly possible offers that would benefit all parties involved. So don’t leave a comment claiming I am an idiot for proposing these deals. Thank you.)

Amare Stoudemire Knicks

In an off-season where most of the major free agents have stayed home so far, Amare Stoudemire and the Knicks agreed on a five-year, $100 million deal.  New York has landed one of the top tier players available, but who will be joining Stoudemire in the Big Apple?

Real Season Begins NOW for New York Knicks

As expected, it was another rough year for the Knicks franchise as they suffered through their ninth straight losing season.  However, it was almost accepted by their front office and fan base as the true season for the Knicks begins on July 1st when the NBA free agency period begins.

Every single move the Knicks have made post-Isaiah Thomas has been geared up to clear cap space so they could be a major player this off-season.  That’s why New York dealt their 2009 first round pick Jordan Hill and a 2011 first round pick to the Rockets just so Houston would take on Jared Jefferies salary for next season.  In the process, the Knicks acquired Tracy McGrady who was a free agent.  New York now enters the off-season with only four players under contract next season and a boatload of cap space.

NBA Power Rankings: #27 New York Knicks

by: David Kay

We are only a month and a half away from the start of the NBA season.  So why not start our 2009-2010 team previews?  Every weekday for the next six weeks, I will be revealing my pre-season Power Rankings in reverse order from #30 to my prediction for winning the NBA title.

The New York Knicks don’t care about the 2009-2010 season.  There I said it.  Everything they have done during the past couple seasons has revolved around one thing: the 2010 off-season and landing LeBron James.  In the meantime, the Knicks will suffer through another season of being bad.  Straight up bad.
