The Michael Kidd-Gilchrist profile

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

I am back with my “Player Comparisons”. After taking a few weeks off, I thought it would be smart for me to start doing this because I know a lot of people are looking forward to the June draft. Today I am focusing on Kentucky’s Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Take a look at his profile!

Minnesota Timberwolves “luck” might be turning around?

Minnesota Timberwolves

I know the last few years have been down-right dreadful for fans of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Our last few draft picks (Wes Johnson and Derrick Williams) haven’t panned-out, so far or yet. But, Ricky Rubio brought a spark this season before his ACL injury. He lit-up Target Center with his maestro passing skills and non-matador-esque defensive ability that most of his teammates (Michael Beasley) have shown the past few years. He might just be the beginning of a Minnesota-turnaround, though.

Bradley Beal: The Next Ray Allen?

Bradley Beal

NBA prospect Bradley Beal is earning some high praise, and he hasn’t even done anything to deserve it, yet. Beal is considered, by most NBA scouts and draft analysts, to be a top five pick in this year’s NBA draft.

The highly rated shooting guard from the University of Florida has drawn comparisons to current NBA players, most notably: Eric Gordon and Ray Allen. [Read more…]

#1 Kentucky Wildcats vs. #4 Louisville Cardinals: everything you need to know

ashley judd kentucky

It’s a bluegrass, bourbon, basketball battle. The biggest meeting ever between the two rivals from the state of Colonel Sanders’ fried chicken and his secret recipe. It’s the Kentucky Wildcats vs. the Louisville Cardinals at the Final Four in New Orleans. Sounds very Southern (and drunk) to me.

Let’s get to it!

Nation’s #1 recruit, Shabazz Muhammad, narrows school choices down to four

shabazz-muhammad

The Nation’s #1 recruit, Shabazz Muhammad, will not be staying at home to play college basketball this fall. Cross UNLV off his list, as the Las Vegas native now has his own set of final four schools left remaining for his services. Two of them will be competing this Final Four weekend as Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, and UCLA remain in the mix.

On the day after he won the high school all-star week’s dunk competition, and on the eve of the McDonald’s All-American game, Muhammad talked about what each one has to offer.

Indiana Hoosiers must move against VCU

The fourth-seeded Indiana Hoosiers now have a NCAA tournament win in the Tom Crean era.

They should get their second such victory at 7:10 p.m. today in Portland. Should.

Even so, the Hoosiers face a daunting obstacle to a berth in the Sweet 16 in No. 12 seed Virginia Commonwealth, who could make IU pay for repeating one of its worst habits. [Read more…]

Indiana Hoosiers appear tourney-bound after win against Michigan State

No. 1 Kentucky? Check.

No. 2 Ohio State? Check.

No. 5 Michigan State? Check.

Each of those three teams, while ranked as listed, has fallen at Assembly Hall this season, adding a feat to the already deep lore of Indiana University basketball: the Hoosiers (23-7, 10-7 Big Ten) have knocked off three top-5 teams in the regular season for the first time ever.

Knocking off the Spartans in a 70-55 win Tuesday night adds yet another key victory to IU’s tournament resume — one that probably doesn’t need any more work to ensure the Hoosiers will go dancing for the first time under coach Tom Crean. For Crean, the players and Hoosier Nation, that has to feel good.

Indiana Hoosiers Are Back After Beating No. 1 Kentucky

Welcome back, Indiana University basketball.

It’s been way too long.

Fans in Bloomington and across the nation have been longing — aching — to utter those words after the fallout from the Kelvin Sampson fiasco and the subsequent 28 wins over the first three seasons of the Tom Crean era.

And what better way to usher in the Hoosiers’ resurgence than with an epic 73-72 upset of long-time rival and No. 1 Kentucky at Assembly Hall with a last-second 3-pointer by Christian Watford?

After what might have been one of the best games ever played in the famed basketball arena, fans legitimately can say their program is relevant again.
