It’s a bluegrass, bourbon, basketball battle. The biggest meeting ever between the two rivals from the state of Colonel Sanders’ fried chicken and his secret recipe. It’s the Kentucky Wildcats vs. the Louisville Cardinals at the Final Four in New Orleans. Sounds very Southern (and drunk) to me.

More Kentucky Wildcats tourney wins=more emphasis on one-and-done prospects

There aren’t many songs about Kentucky. However, Elvis (Presley, not Costello, Grbac or Dumervil) did sing about “the cold Kentucky rain.” But with the way Kentucky’s college basketball team whipped Baylor today, and how convincing they look as the favorite to cut down the nets in New Orleans, and it’ll be “Kentucky reign.”

And Kentucky reign is based on John Calipari buying recruiting the top-of-the-line prospects; the one-and-done to the NBA guys. Big Blue has become the destination for blue-chip recruits, year-in and year-out, they keep replenishing them. And if UK wins it all this year, expect more teams to copy their style.

Kentucky Wildcats Destroy Penn State Basketball 85-47

As the Penn State scandal has engulfed the nation, most of America is rooting against Penn State in every game they play. At least in college football. When it comes to the college basketball program, not many have anti-PSU vitriol.

However, the 3-1 Nittany Lions men’s hoops team did suffer their first loss of the young season today; and did so in extremely graphic fashion. It was their largest margin of defeat in seven years.

PSU missed 25 straight shots and shot just 16% in the first half as #2 Kentucky Wildcats (3-0) jumped to a 47-15 halftime lead before cruising to an 85-47 victory in the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-off Tournament at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
