NBA draft scenarios for Indiana Pacers

The Indiana Pacers are staring the end of the Larry Bird era in the eyes right now.

The 2011-12 NBA Executive of the Year announced his decision to step down as team president Thursday, but he’s not quite done yet.

Bird will conduct the Pacers’ draft alongside Donnie Walsh, who returns to Indiana as president, and newly promoted GM Kevin Pritchard.

The trio could go several different directions, including standing pat with their No. 26 overall pick or wheeling and dealing to move up.

North Carolina Doomed against Kansas Without Kendall Marshall

When Kendall Marshall landed awkwardly on his right wrist on a drive with 10:56 remaining in North Carolina’s round-of-32 matchup with Creighton, it was hard to predict that the seemingly innocuous tumble would have such drastic implications for a Tar Heels squad bent on reaching its third Final Four in the last five years.

Marshall, a Cousy Award finalist, would play seven more minutes before being pulled out of the game with just under two minutes remaining. It was only after the Tar Heels’ 14-point victory that its star point guard would learn that he had suffered a fractured wrist, an injury that prevented him from playing in his team’s overtime victory over Ohio and may keep him out for the rest of the Tournament.

North Carolina Tar Heels Coach Roy Williams says Kendall Marshall’s status remains uncertain for the Midwest Regional semifinal against Ohio Friday night in St. Louis. He also added that the mean is practicing/preparing for the next round as if he wasn’t going to play.

Marshall fractured his wrist last weekend in the win over Creighton, although he stayed in the game after suffering the injury.

“You’ve got me between a rock and a hard place,” Williams said today. “I cannot give you any answers. I’ve given everybody all the answers I can give because I’ve said honestly, I do not know.”

North Carolina point guard Kendall Marshall has broken wrist

kendall_marshall

North Carolina is a favorite in many of your brackets. Your bracket may have just taken a major hit as the Tar Heels suffered another set back today, as their floor general Kendall Marshall suffered a severe fracture to his right wrist. Just as they were getting John Henson back and healthy from a wrist sprain.

Marshall suffered the injury in the Heels’ 87-73 win over Creighton today. But he stayed in the game after the injury, so that’s a good sign he might be available when they take on the Ohio/South Florida winner next week in the sweet sixteen in St Louis.

Or not?
